The architecture is the art and science of designing buildings. In a broader sense, the architecture includes the design of the total built environment, from the macro level that town planning, urban design, landscape architecture, down to the micro level that the building design, furniture design and product design. The architecture also refers to the results of the design process. the production of of building is the most visible human. However, most of the building was designed by the people themselves or masons in developing countries, or over the production standards in developed countries. Architects remain marginalized in the production building. Expertise sought only architect in the construction of complex building types, or buildings that have meaning cultural / political matters. And this is accepted by the general public as an architecture. The role of the architect, though changing, has never been a major and never stand alone. There will always be a dialogue between the community and the architect. And the result is a dialogue can be termed as the architecture, as a product and a discipline as well as architecture of Chicago has influenced and reflected the history of American architecture. City of Chicago, Illinois has a prominent buildings in a variety of styles by many important architects. Because most of the buildings in the downtown area were destroyed (most famous exception is the Water Tower) by the Great Chicago Fire in 1871, Chicago buildings are famous for their originality rather than their antiquated.
